[For George]

It only figures, Sarah believes. She gets a doctor and almost can put her trust in the woman and suddenly, she's gone. Just like she's dropped out of time, gone. And really, she knows that the woman had a husband and child and she has no claim. Still, she's relieved that at least the husband hasn't been left behind.

This leaves her with no doctor, though. At least, not yet. She has a chance, though. When it comes time for his clinic shift, that's when she shows up at the door, arms crossed and leaning against the doorway. "Hi," is all she manages with a tight smile, as if somehow he could read her mind and figure out what she's doing there.

It wasn't all that strange to see people walk into a clinic -- generally, everyone needed help from time to time. George just wasn't expecting anyone to come around, which was probably his own fault for being lulled into some kind of rut when it came to his own clinic shift.

Other than births, scrapes and sunburns, things were generally low-key.

"Hey, Sarah," he said, giving her a smile as he got up, the rolling chair (Addison Montgomery's legacy, if that was to be believed) moving back half a foot. "How are you?"

If George was a little surprised Sarah had chosen him after her first impression of him had involved injuring himself with a toy, he didn't show it. He just gave her a smile, and gestured around to the relatively empty clinic. "Always. In fact, you'd make my day."

He'd seen enough over the years to know when not to react, and something like this, the quiet way Sarah came to him, counted as one of those times. The smile faded, but George just let slight concern take its place.

He had to work for a moment to shove aside everything in him that screamed Izzie.

"I'll get your file," he said, gesturing vaguely to the desk area, "do you want to go talk in one of the rooms? It's private."

He still missed Ellie's presence -- missed her for Meredith's sake, too -- but finding Sarah's file was easy enough, and George ushered her into the back room saved for crashing doctors.

Gesturing for her to sit down in the chair, George leaned against the desk as he read through the file. "So...looks like she did get the blood results back," he finally said, looking at Sarah, and allowed himself a small smile. "They're clean."

"We monitor you for the next couple of months," he replied. It was easy to be optimistic here, and the only feeling George could afford. Cancer was hardly easy when they were around technology to treat it. "We'll watch your weight and your health, and do another blood test in a month, see where we're at."

He'd have to give the file a thorough look later, but Ellie had been the kind of doctor George had been happy to work with -- nice, personable, and neater than most. "Well, right now I'll give you a physical, and use today's results as...kind of a measure of sorts, for the next couple of months."
