[Gaius]

Admittedly, this isn't what she had expected, but some work hours are worth this. She has her feet propped up on a chair and has been watching Gaius tend to her tables for the last few hours. She hasn't determined yet what she wants to spend the rest of the day doing, but after everything -- and everything he's found out about her -- she likes this small little sliver of normalcy.

It's almost like she's back with Charley. Almost.

"You missed a table," she helpfully points out, popping slices of mango past her lips as she gestures to a table that has yet to be bussed.

When he'd signed up for the auction, this honestly wasn't what he'd had in mind. A day with Sarah Baum... Of all the scenarios he could have imagined, this was not one of them. He didn't even mean that in a lecherous sort of way...

Well, not completely.

"So I have," he drawled, making his way toward the table, "What ever would I do without your kind and subtle direction?

"As long as you're not expecting me to cook, I think I can handle that," he decided, clearing the plates and carrying them back toward the kitchen to be washed.

"Though," he said, once he'd emerged from the back, "To be honest, I'm not entirely sure I'm committed to keeping this job."

"Think of all that gossip you'd spawn. You'd become infamous," he said, leaning his hands against the back of the chair she'd pushed toward him.

"Though, I'm doubtful how they'd even fire you from a job you're not getting paid for."

"Tell me, when did this conversation take such a dark turn? I seem to have gotten lost somewhere back in the discussion about dinner," he said, arching a brow, "Forgetting to tidy a few tables is a far cry from what I think you're implying."

"What position is that?" Gaius asked, finally taking a seat in the offered chair. "Whether I'd been bought or not, Ms. Baum, I don't see myself running any time soon. Which has nothing to do with my character. I'm a shameful coward, just ask anyone."
